The main objective of the Authority is to regulate water resources within the State, facilitate and ensure judicious, equitable and sustainable management, allocation and utilization of Water resources, fix the rates for use of water for agriculture, industrial, drinking and other purposes and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Head of Environmental Engineering, University of Tel Aviv, is a leading laboratory in the world doing cutting edge research in water and waste water technologies. Currently the laboratory is collaborating with Indus Water in a research project and intend to engage on a long term basis.

The office of the Auroville Foundation at Auroville, Tamil Nadu has been functioning under the administrative control of Ministry of Human Resource Development as a statutory (autonomous) body corporate, Govt. of India.
